Sleek Contour & Blush Palette in Light | Review

Hey lovelies! Firstly, I should point out the nail mark in the bronzer of this palette (if you hadn't noticed already). When opening it to take photographs of it my nail took a big chunk out of it. It does not make for a pretty picture. Anyway, today's post will be a review of the fabulous Sleek Contour and Blush Palette. Sleek is my ultimate favourite brand and this product did not disappoint.

It consists of a bronzed contour, highlight and blush. For just £8.99 from Superdrug, this product has to be my favourite purchase for a while now. I got it in the shade Light as I felt like this would suit my fair skin tone better than the darker palette. Sleeks packaging is so sleek (duh), classic and classy. The matte black casing and enclosed mirror just make it an ideal palette for various occasions.

The bronzer shade is great for contouring and adding depth to the skin. It does not appear orangey or too cakey as some bronzers do. It's a warm brown tone which is more complimenting. All 3 shades are fab dupes for expensive products and this bronzer replica's Nars Laguna and is similar to Benefit's Hoola. The highlight shade is identical to MAC's Soft and Gentle Mineralise Skin Finish which I bought recently. I haven't been using my MAC one as much as this one is much more handy as it's in this palette with the complimenting bronzer and blush. The shade is a champagne shimmer highlight which looks very natural and adds a sheer glow to the skin. The blush is my favourite Sleek blush and the perfect description for it is rose gold. The gold speckles within the blush are so fine and sit beautifully on the cheeks. This ones a dupe for Nars Orgasm blush.

Have you tried out this amazing palette yet? If not, go buy it now!!! ttyl,

Wearing | Aztec Diamond

Hello peeps! Long time no see. Or long time no blog? I have been on holiday recently and then I got sick after returning... Boo for sickness. So, I feel like I have neglected my blog for a little bit but I'm back and fighting to get into the swing of things again. I thought I would post a few outfit snaps to show you all what I was wearing on holiday. Holiday outfits are so much more fun as opposed to the boring old Scottish weather and scenery. Having said that, these snaps were taken before leaving for the airport. But anyway, this is my travel outfit post.

Apologies for the bad quality photos, my memory card for my camera decided to disappear so I couldn't use it the full holiday. Major PAIN!!!

Sunnies - Primark £1!!! / Top - Topshop Sale / Kimono / Jeans / Sandals / Watch - Michael Kors / Bag - New Look / Nails - Various Barry M, Topshop and Rimmel Nail Polish

I like to be comfortable when it comes to travelling so I thought that Topshop's incredibly comfy Leigh jeans and a kimono were the perfect combination. I bought this little white top from the Topshop sale and have already posted about it on my blog in my last outfit post. My Kimono is from new look and I love the triangle trim at the bottom of it because it's a little different. My sandals are yet again La Moda's chunky heels but if you can't find them on there, Ebay is a good place to look. I have just painted and decorated clear pointed tips with different nail polishes and little diamontes. Great if you are on a budget as the clear tips were only £3/4 from Ebay.

Thanks for reading guys, ttyl,

June Favourites | 2014

I come to you again with another favourites post. We're nearly half way through the month of July but I am on holiday in Portugal at the moment so I'm going with that excuse ;). I have just a few beauty favs that have had me hooked throughout June so read on to find out what.

Sleek iDivine Au Naturel Palette
A must have eyeshadow palette. These shades are universal and I always use at least one of the shadows on a daily basis!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
I am loving my cleansing water and I cannot put into words how much it has changed my routine when removing my make up. I have noticed that I haven't got as many blemishes and spots as I usually get because I used this constantly last month.

MAC Hue
I have finally found that 'my lips but better shade'. It's the best nude that I have found to compliment my skin tone! I will be repurchasing it very soon at this rate.

Maxfactor 2000 Calorie Extreme Waterproof
I have been loving using this BROWN mascara for the past few weeks as it gives off a softer look! I wish I had discovered this when I was a blondie as looking back on photos I feel that the black mascara was a lil harsh. The formula is amazing and it holds the length and curl all day.

Sigma Small Contour F05
I love all of my Sigma brushes but this has been my favourite lately. I use it to apply my blush and to powder contour.

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso
My favourite blush for the summer rime! Luminoso is a rose gold shade with gold shimmers. I love using it to finish off my contour!

I'm sure everyones July fav's will just be around the corner! ttyl,

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation | First Impressions & Review

- Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation -
£9.99 (Superdrug/Boots)

As my trusty L'Oreal True Match foundation has just run out, I took a little trip into Superdrug to pick up a new one. I have been using True Match for 2 years now (the Lumi and the original), and have really enjoyed the foundation but I get too bored of foundation easily and find they begin to not work with my skin after a while of using it. I thought it was time for a change and having heard so many fab reviews on the Bourjois foundations, I knew I had to try it out.

I picked up the shade 52 Vanilla. This was the 2nd lightest shade from what they had on offer at my store. It is just a smigen too dark for my skin tone but as my face is always pale, I don't mind this in a foundation. I opted not to go for the Serum as I have heard that it's a lighter coverage that this one. The foundation claims to give you that healthy glow which is what I was looking for. My skin has been looking dull and lifeless lately. It hydrates the skin which I badly need also.

It appears to give me a medium coverage but can be buildable. The texture of the foundation is very creamy and blendable. It feels very light on my face but evens out my skin tone so well. The finish is a semi-matte finish but in no way dry looking. There is still a luminous glow to the skin. It does sound impossible but you really do get the best of both worlds from using it. I can get up to 5 hours wear before I need to powder my t-zone, it does claim to have a 16 hour longevity but I wouldn't leave makeup on my face for that length of time anyway. With ingredients such as apricot, ginger and apple, the scent is really fruity and pleasant (aint nothing worse than plastecine smelling foundation).

These photographs were taken when I first tried out the foundation. I have combined it with my MAC pro longwear concealer and Rimmel stay matter powder. I was able to achieve a full coverage base that gives a flawless finish without looking cakey.

Overall I give this foundation a 9/10 so far and I am really impressed by it! Have you tried this foundation yet? What are your thoughts? ttyl,

Lil' MAC Haul

Personally, I love watching/reading MAC haul Youtube video's/blog posts. They seem to be a brand that have it all figured out and seeing what people are purchasing never bores me! Here I have just a little haul as I made an online purchase last week. Believe it or not, I wasn't planning to make an order. Although, whilst browsing on the Debenhams website (as you do), I noticed that soft and gentle WAS IN STOCK! What? I have been on the hunt for months and it was finally available. The two lipsticks were just a little extra.

Soft and Gentle in the new mineralised skin finish packaging! I for one am loving it. This highlighter makes all my others look like nobodies. I have a few powder highlighters that are just too shimmer or contain chunky speckles of glitter. However, Soft and Gentle is so finely milled that the shimmer is so subtle and gorgeous.

Heroine (matte finish). I was so glad that they brought this lipstick into the permenant line. I forgot all about this, then added it to my basket straight away when I saw it last week as I'm loving purple at the minute.

Hue (glaze finish). As a bold lipstick collector, I very seldom pick up a nude shade. My go to nude lipstick is Angel by MAC but I think I am loving this one more! Angel is a frost formula so it gives a slight shimmer to the lips, but Hue is the perfect match to my natural lips. It just adds a lovely sheen to them and looks so natural.

That's all I purchased from MAC folks...
until next time! ttyl,

Splurge V Save | Kylie Jenner Inspired

There's no denying that miss Kylie Jenner has turned into such a fashionista! I am always crushing over her instagram pics as she seems to have the most amazing wardrobe! She can be grungy and edgy but also switches it up to become classic and chic. She's such a babe and always keeps it stylish!

This little fashion snap from a couple of weeks ago really got me on the hunt for a classic white boyfriend blouse and sleeveless coat. I love that she has opted to keep it classy and never trashy (Miley should take some notes?). As some of us aren't lucky enough to rock her designer gear, here are some alternatives to this simple outfit that makes a big statement.

The Academy Of Makeup | Training

The Academy of Makeup - Hope Street, Glasgow
A couple of years ago I was browsing the internet for fast tracked makeup artistry training. I knew it would be quite expensive but that was the route I wanted to take. This was because I have already been on the uni scene for 3 years and the thought of spending another 2+ years of studying in another area just didn't appeal to me. After doing quite a lot of research, The Academy of Makeup stood out to me by a mile. It received tonnes of positive feedback and the layout of each of the courses on offer got me excited instantly. I have now completed my training and I am 110% happy with the decision I made. That is why I wanted to write up this post as there are not many places like The Academy in Scotland for people who want to take up quick and intensive training.

Why I chose The Academy Of Makeup.
Other than the amazing reviews and feedback the academy received, I was so attracted to the idea of smaller and more intimate training. Not only that, the list of vast experienced tutors that work for the academy pushed me even further away from the college route. Sara Hill (Director) has had 16 years in the business, started out with MTV and the BBC. Her celebrity clients include Kanye West, Emeli Sande, Grace Jones and Melanie C. Vivienne Westwood is just one of the great designers she has assisted at international fashion week and winning Best UK Makeup Artist in 2012!!! She is also the editor for Hope St magazine! Sara noticed that there was a gap for short course make up training within Scotland and wanted to change that.

What course I chose.
There are various courses on offer from makeup to hair to nails. All of which vary in length. The site can help you choose which course is best suited to you by listing the courses according to your previous experience. I chose the Foundation Course which is a weeks long intensive course. You can be a beginner to intermediate to attend this. Each day of the week, we learned and mastered certain techniques.

Foundation Course - Monday to Friday, 10.30am - 5.00pm
Price - £850 plus VAT

Brush Roll

11 Piece Brush Set

Daily Low Down.
- Monday -
On Monday morning we arrived and were each greeted by a brush roll with 11 brushes, training booklet and a form to fill out. After this, we were greeted by the great Kat McSwein. Kat introduced herself and gave us a summary about her career. Kat has worked in the industry for 10 years. Some of her A-List clients have been Katy Perry, The Saturdays, Paolo Nutini and Alesha Dixon! Kat has worked for many fashion events including London Fashion Week. Tennents, Capital Radio and Irn Bru and some of her clients in advertising campaigns. We were all so impressed with her experience.

We worked through our booklet to get some of the theory out of the way first. She lead on to explaining which skincare items we would need in our professional makeup kit, giving us little tips along the way. Kat then demonstrated how to Cleanse the face, Assess Skin Types, Moisturise, Foundation match and Setting the face! Next it was out turn, we partnered up and went through the steps that Kat had taught us. Colour matching foundations was something I was scared about but now feel very confident doing. Kat gave us homework which was to wash our brushes for the next day (best homework ever eh?). I had a great first day and went home with information overload!

- Tuesday -
Our tutor today was Kimberley Dewar who was so lovely and helpful. Kimberley also gave us a summary of her career to date. Like ourselves, Kimberley also trained in similar circumstances to us by small courses but training at the infamous London College of Fashion. Kimberley has worked on commercial advertisements, music videos, editorial shoots and massive shows/events including London Fashion Week, The Scottish Style Awards, Mallorca Rocks and The Mobo Awards. Again, we were astonished by the success of our tutors!

Today's training featured Contouring, Highlighting and Blush. We opened our booklet and discussed in groups what face shapes we all had. Kimberley then took us through the stages in correcting face shapes by contouring. Kimberley demonstrated on a model and we each got to practice on different partners today. We then added what we learned on day 1 with Kat with what we were doing today with Kimberley. Kimberley informed us that we were her fastest class yet and we then went onto learning the classic, bold Red Lip and how to match the perfect shade to the clients skin tone. Yet again, I went home filled with lots of knowledge but so exhausted.

- Wednesday -
Kimberley was our tutor again for Day 3. Today's topics were Eyes, Brows and Lashes (eyebrow plucking and shaping, eyeshadow, eye liner, individual lash application). We chatted about various eye shapes and how to correct brows. Kimberley demonstrated each step on the model and then it was our turn on different partners again. It was fun putting the face and eye steps together. I was so impressed by the eye look I created for my model. It was great to get practice applying individual lashes to complete the look. I felt like we were all getting the hang of the full makeup application by today and relaxing a lot more.

- Thursday -
We had Kat again for day 4. Today was Bridal Day! Kat taught all students about building a bridal business and threw in so many tips. This was highly beneficial for me as this is the business I am getting into. Many notes were taken down on this day. We then learned how to create the most natural and complementary bridal looks. As there were an odd number of students, I got to do the model's makeup today. I was super pleased with this as I had the time to create two looks on the stunning model. We carried out a bridal consultation and then I created the first look (very natural and simplistic but effective). Using the extra time I had, I then created a bright and colourful look. When day 4 finished, sadness came over me as I realised I only had one day left on the course.

- Friday -
Kat tutored us today for day 5 where it was all about the smokey eye and strip lash application. The eye look today would be more in depth and adding black to it which increased the difficulty. Kat explained what type of smokey eye suits different eye shapes and also filled us in about her tricks when it comes to a smokey eye. We put every step together from day 1 to day 5 carrying out the base, cheeks, eyes and lips. As today's focus was on eyes, we had more time to practice liquid liner which is something I find so simple to do on myself but found it quite tricky on others. Lastly, we finished off with strip lash applications and a powder puff to complete the look. At the end of the day we received our certificate and I said my farewells to the team and the other students (although I hope to see them in the future). The Academy keep in contact with their students through emails and update us on events that require makeup artists which I think is just amazing.

This post would be weeks long if I was to go into further detail about all the course entailed but I loved every single minute of my time with them. I plan to go back and attend one of the masterclasses and gain some more training and experience. Since leaving The Academy, I have been building up my makeup kit, getting my business page up and running and building a clientele. Yes I could have carried on self taught and saved many a pound by going it alone into the beauty industry and not had the professional training. But I wouldn't have had the skill, information, materials and knowledge of the industry needed to be as confident as I am now, thanks to The Academy and the tutors. I met some lovely people and was able to share my passion with the other students who attended. I do and will continue to recommend The Academy to all who are thinking of improving their makeup skills and those seeking high quality training.

Feel free to visit The Academy Of Makeup website HERE for all information on tutors and courses they have on offer.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water | Review

Let me say it before you do - yes I know I'm mega late to the party with this one, but I stand by this product that much that I wanted to post about it today for you guys! As you can see, the product barely has a dent in it. This is because I just picked it up today I have been stealing my sisters (thanks sis) for about a month now and I've been in love. Therefore, I had to buy my own and picked it up in Superdrug today for £3 something, woo!

If cleansing waters are new to you then I guarantee that you won't be disappointed by trying one out. The infamous french skincare brand Bioderma created the ever so popular Sensibio H2O cleansing water which is where I first heard of them although it is much more expensive. I haven't tried Bioderma's yet but I'm pretty content with Garnier's at the moment.

Why I use it and love it:

- To gently remove my make up
- It soothes and hydrates the skin
- No water is required in this cleansing routine
- Fragrance free
-  Perfect for all skin types
- Up to 200 uses

There are two ways that you can use this cleansing water. As I am very lazy when it comes to taking off my make up at the end of the day, it frustrates me if I have to go through far too many steps. Make up wipes have been my go to make up remover for years now (the horror), but its quick and easy. So on lazy nights I use a make up wipe and then go ahead and use this cleansing water on 2 or 3 cotton pads to remove the remains. There is ALWAYS make up left on my face after using the make up wipe. So I know when using this is takes away every last bit left on my face. If I have more time, I will go in straight away with the cleansing water and it takes me about 7 or 8 cotton pads before my face is make up free and looking fresh. I always use it to remove my eye makeup as its gentle. As you can see the look of my make up on the cotton pad isn't too appealing to see but I wanted to showcase what make up was left on my face after I thought I had taken it all off.

My skin feels smooth, fresh, hydrated and make up free as a result of using this product and would recommend it to all! ttyl,
